Five ways to reduce stress and become more successful

Stress is a normal part of human life. But sometimes it becomes overwhelming, or it’s chronic. It makes you feel worse and can lead to becoming sick. It’s essential to have effective stress relievers that can calm your mind and your body.

1. Slow Down

Modern life is so busy: never-ending to-do list, a constant rush and a lot of things on your mind. For an entrepreneur, it’s even worse. Need to think about your business, trying to make some money and meeting with many people. It’s incredible how many people suffer from stress because they are tired. Fatigue makes you experience anxiety at much higher levels for much longer periods.

Sometimes you just need to slow down and relax. Set realistic goals and expectations for yourself. Plan some downtime to give your mind time to chill out. A brain well taken care of will serve you much better in the long-term. If you are planning your day and rest properly, your body will reduce stress naturally.

2. Eat Well

Eating a regular, well-balanced diet will help you feel better in general. It may also help you reduce your stress. You need to focus on eating healthy meals and staying well hydrated. Stress and poor diet lead to insomnia, high blood pressure, headaches and other diseases.

Avoid (or at least reduce) your consumption of nicotine and any drinks containing caffeine and alcohol. They are stimulants and will increase your stress level rather than reduce it.

Focus on proper hydration and vitamin intake, especially during stressful periods. Limit consumption of meats and try to choose organic and healthy alternatives.

3. Exercise Regularly

Most of us spend most of our time sitting down at a desk. We aren’t as active as we should be. When we get stressed, we even spend more time like this, telling ourselves we don’t have the opportunity to do anything else. It’s an entirely wrong approach.

You should exercise as much as you can. When you do it, the body releases endorphins, which are a morphine-like substance originating from within the body. These interact with the receptors in your brain to reduce your perception of pain and trigger positive feelings.

You should go outside if you can. It’s always good to do your stretches outside while getting your dose of fresh air. If you can work out with a friend, it’s even better. It’s always good to socialise and spend some time with a person you like.

4. Meditate

Meditation always brings short-term stress relief as well as lasting stress management benefits. If you meditate consistently, you will find yourself less stressed and more relaxed. It’s also a great way to lower your blood pressure, support you with better sleep and help to focus on your mind.

Meditating in the morning allows you to start the day with a clear mind and will help you improve your focus and concentration later in the day. This is a great way to direct your mind towards a positive attitude for the day.

If you aren’t into traditional meditation practice, try listening to some relaxing music and looking out over nature. Take some long deep breaths and achieve some mental calm for a while. You can also try some other relaxation techniques, like yoga.

5. Try To Avoid Stressors

The best way to avoid stress is to eliminate stressors. Try to figure out what are the biggest causes of stress in your life. Is it your job, your school, other people? If you can identify what your stressors are, see if you are able to eliminate them from your life, or at least reduce them.

Try to reduce the cause of stress. For example, if your colleagues make you crazy, try to change the job. If you don’t have clients, find a strategy to get ones. If lack of money worries you, change your job or develop a reserve of cash to get rid of that stressor permanently.

If you can’t identify causes of your stress, try keeping a stress diary – make notes what makes you anxious and see if you can find a pattern.

Always try to stay positive. Talk to your friends, your loved ones. Spend more time with nature. If your problems continue and begin to interfere with everyday life, you can speak to your GP, who can talk you through the available support.
